Georgetown DECA has had an amazing start of the 2015-2016 DECA season!
The year started off with an increase in membership and a general sense of excitement for what was going to come. Our chapter has grown close thus far and has really stepped up through volunteerism, practices, and meeting attendance. All of this was highlighted at our recent District 3 Career Development Conference at Merrimack College in North Andover, MA. Here all of our DECA-cated members worked really hard and did their best in competition - and it really showed. This year we have 34 out of our 44 member contingent moving on to States through competition. Another 4 students will be representing Georgetown in our Quiz Bowl team, allowing Georgetown to bring 38 members into Boston in March! The entire officer team and Mrs. Ryer are extremely proud of the accomplishments of our members and we look forward to what is ahead. However, that means a lot of work and preparation... Writtens and hybrids have already begun to refine their papers and presentations, to prepare and alter their boards, and to setup practice times. Following midterms week, role plays will begin once again meeting with their officer representatives to run through practice scenarios, and the Quiz Bowl team will be meeting for special sessions and practice with the buzzer game. The goal for the entire chapter at States 2016 is to work on improving our testing scores. This is always an area of improvement for every student; however, with a little effort it can make the difference at carry you to ICDC - this year in Nashville, Tennessee. I look forward to the next two months, which will be full of hard work and extreme DECA-cation. In the end, though, it will lead to a very fun and successful State conference! Until next time, Michael Kelley President & Webmaster Georgetown DECA

This is Michael Kelley giving you my final thoughts for this 2014 - 2015 DECA year.
First and foremost, I want to thank all of our wonderful DECA members for making this year so memorable and special. You all really stepped up to the plate and were truly successful this year. We had our best showing at Districts ever in our chapter history, with numerous successes at both the State and National level. The entire officer team and myself are all extremely proud of the work that this chapter has achieved! Next, I would like to thank Mrs. Ryer for her dedication and support throughout the entire year. She is an amazing individual who goes beyond the call of duty to ensure that DECA is the amazing experience that it is. She invests so much of her own time and effort to make sure that we all get the most out of this club as possible, and for that I cannot thank her enough! Congratulations to all of our senior members and best of luck wherever your life may take you. Remember to always keep DECA and GHS in your hearts, and use the skills that you have learned here for positive good in the world. Thank you to the outgoing officer team for your support and collaboration. I know that we all had a positive impact on this club and helped it to reach new heights.
